Spring time is here, the weather is beautiful and the real estate market is ripe with new buyers looking for great values. Most buyers I have spoken with recently are looking for homes that are clean and ready for move-in. Here are 5 quick easy tips to get your home in tip top shape for the spring showing season.
- Let the sun shine in. Brighten up your rooms by cleaning your windows, draperies and blinds, and opening them up to let fresh air and sunlight in.
- Sniff out smells. If a prospective buyer is distracted by a strange odor, they won't notice all the wonderful qualities of your home. Take some time to sniff out smells in your home that may be distracting. Some of the most common culprits are pet odors, cooking odors, and food waste.
- Make your bed. A well made bed makes bedrooms more comfortable and inviting. Wash or dry clean comforters and dust ruffles, fluff your pillows, and add some extra throw pillows in complimentary fabrics and colors.
- Clear the air. Everyone who lives in Arizona knows there is no getting away from the dust. Before the weather gets too warm you should clean your ceiling fans & air conditioning vents to make sure you are not spreading dust through your home.
- Wash the walls. Grease, smoke, fingerprints and dust can adhere to walls and make even the best decorating look dingy. Wash your walls using a general-purpose cleaner. If necessary touch up any trouble spots with a fresh coat of paint.
