On October 5th a special auction will be held to sell of beautiful redwood slabs from a redwood tree that fell in December of 2012 in the forests of Big Sur. The wood from this fallen behemoth has been carefully harvested and ten pieces will go up for auction to benefit the Henry Miller Memorial library, ensuring that the library will have a sustainable financial future. This is a extremely rare opportunity to own beautiful wood that has been growing for centuries here in California all while supporting a worthy cause.

To view the selected wood pieces that will be going up for sale please visit the Big Sur Redwood Wordpress page.

Even if you are not interested in participating in the auction for the ten redwood pieces you can still come out and spend a beautiful day amongst the redwoods of Big Sur while drinking wines from Heller Estate and treats from Big Sur Bakery.

After the auction take the opportunity to visit some of the other great spots that Monterey has to offer, such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Standing from cliffside you can spot playful sea otters, sea lions, and hear the harbor seals. With a quick Internet search, bird watchers can find popular spots like Carmel River Mouth for observing a variety of coastal, lagoon, and woodland birds.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is unlike any other because of the opportunities to get up-close with marine life, 45 interactive exhibits, and the impressive Outer Bay, which is the largest exhibit in the world!
