This year was a Very Special Durham Fair for me. I did a blog early last week about the Durham Fair going on this past weekend. Saturday I got to go to the Durham Fair with my wife Renee, oldest son Matthew, daughter in-law Ashley, and my gorgeous grand daughter Elizabeth.
It was the first Durham Fair for Elizabeth, she could not take her eyes off all the people at the Fair, and everything going on around her. It is remarkable at how alert she is at just 11 weeks. She wants to see everything, even though her eyesight is still developing at this age. She loved the Llamas so I wanted to take the picture above with her, and one of her favorite Llamas who came right up to us.
There is no parking on the Fair Grounds, so the best way to get to the Durham Fair is to park at one of two huge farms, and take the shuttle to the Fair. I got to ride the shuttle with Elizabeth and carry her most of the day, because she did not want to be stuck in her stroller. That was just fine with me, because I loved every minute I got to hold her.
The Durham Fair was crowded as always, and more and more attractions to see. One of the new things I got to see was a goat being milked. Who knows this my be the beginning of the next Greek Salad I have with feta cheese.
There was also many new vendors there this year, and for Fair food it is actually pretty good. One new vendor I had not seen before was selling a combination of two of my favorite foods together, bacon and chocolate. I am was very tempted to try some, but I managed to walk away. But if they are still there next year, I don't think I will be able to walk away two years in a row.
The Durham Fair had all of the things I have blogged about the Fair in the past, and it is one of the Fairs I look forward to every year. But this year, and in years to come, it will be even more special as I get to go and share it with a little girl who has captured my heart, my gorgeous grand daughter Elizabeth. This year this was a Very Special Durham Fair for me.
