The Pyramid Along RiverWalk - Old Sacramento @ Dusk

By
Real Estate Agent

One of the more enchanting landmarks readily seen from Old Sacramento, or across the river along the RiverWalk, is the Pyramid Building, and the California Teacher Retirement System Building immediately to its right.  Both are strong fixtures on the Greater Sacramento skyline.

I take pictures for the purpose of remembering fond times.  I do not impose copyright restrictions on this photo, so you may feel free to use, or distribute as you wish.  However, should you need a Real Estate Professional in the Greater Sacramento area, I hope that you will contact me by email or by visiting my website www.myrljeffcoat.com - Thank You!

Hi Myrl, Isn't nice that the Teachers Retirement Building is just so utilitarian. It surely must have been inexpensive to build such plain and ordinary piece of architecture. The retirement systems in Ca are just so thrifty and for that we are all so grateful.

Will Hamm - The Pyramid Building has become a Sacramento icon on our landscape.

Kathy Schowe - I can remember when it was being built, it seemed a tad out of place.  But, since then most Sacramentans have embraced it as a little symbol of our identity.

Sharon & Bruce Walter - They do enhance the landscape in the Old Sacramento area for certain.

Ron & Alexandra Seigel - I have often wondered if the California Lottery is contributing to the beautiful administrative buildings the state seems to be enjoying.

Sam Miller - I've taken a number of photos of the Pyramid building over the years, but that shot, taken at dusk had a little different feel to it.

Lou Ludwig - Thank you!  I hope you have a great week!

William Johnson - There are several buildings in Sacramento that beautifully add to the skyline; but at quite the cost.  There is the CalStrs (California Teachers Retirement System) building pictured on the RiverWalk of the Sacramento River.  There is the CalPers (State Worker Retirement System) buildings (more like a campus) perched near Capitol Mall, just to name a few.  I understand the Pyramid building is now occupied by some state agency.  When the economy collapsed a few years back, it was found that the retirement systems were in dire straits, from badly placed investments.  Yet, those buildings never saw a For Sale sign.  That's the beauty of having the citizens of our state held as collateral.

Myrl,

We have a similar building that has that same architectural style in Addison, TX. I never thought of it as a pyramid design, but you are absolutely right! It always gets my attention and easily identifiable too!
