Elkhart citizens know that learning does not stop at high school graduation. Whether people are seeking a well-rounded, traditional college education, or specific courses designed for job training or a career change, the Elkhart area is home to institutions that can meet their needs.
Bethel College, Brown Mackie, Davenport University, Goshen College, Indiana Tech, Indiana University South Bend, Ivy Tech Community College, Tri-State University, and Vincennes University are among the higher education offerings in the area. With a short commute, students can reach an even wider variety of options.
Recently, the State of Indiana changed the mission of Ivy Tech. It has become a full community college system. Students can now take their first two years of nearly any bachelors degree close to home before deciding on a different school to complete their coursework. At the same time, Ivy Tech is continuing its commitment to vocational and job training programs. it is no surprise that the Elkhart Campus of Ivy Tech is one of the fastest growing in the state.
Thanks to the generous donations of local leaders, Indiana University South Bend is constructing a new campus building, in the heart of downtown Elkhart. Students and downtown merchants alike are looking forward to the new facility and the life it will bring to the city. Classes are expected to be offered in the fall of '07.
In addition to the degree programs, Elkhart's higher education institutions continue to offer continuing education courses for the students who are seeking education, without seeking a degree.
