There Is No Such Thing As the Perfect Home, But…

Often buyers tell me that they are just not finding the house they want. I agree, there is no such thing as the perfect house. However, rather than feel frustrated by this, there are a few ways to help with this dilemma.

First, do not forget that just about everything in a house can be changed. The house you buy today may not look the same in a few years. It will be painted in your colors. It may have different landscaping. It may have new floors, or new finishes.

Also, do keep in mind that this may not be the one and only home that you ever purchase to live in. In fact, according to the National Association of Realtors, the average length of time in a home is 5 to 7 years. As unrealistic as this might seem at the time of your purchase, I have seen it happen time and time again. There are job transfers, growing families and opportunities in other neighborhoods. You just never know.

And, here are the most important things to consider about a home that you are buying. First, do you like the neighborhood? Second, do you like the location? You can change just about anything else about a home; all it takes is time and money.
