I'm curious how many people have taken the time to update and enhance their listings on Zillow? With so many sites now feeding listing data into Zillow it's imperative, in my opinion, to keep the information correct. Specifically your own listings. If you don't enhance your listings, which again can be done FOR FREE, do you at least check on whether or not the info is correct? If not, I would love to know why.
I know Zillow is a mixed bag with some people, but I still think you should be on top of your listing data, wherever it is. Especially considering Zillow is no schlep when it comes to website hits or traffic. Stats continue to show Zillow and Realtor.COM are quite closely ranked, with a constant fluctuating gap.
The reason I bring this up is I recently found a home, that should have been listed as a 3 bedroom ranch, showing up as a 32 bedroom ranch. I also found a listing that showed 24800 square feet instead of the obvious 2480. Skimming through the site, there's a number of things I catch from time to time. Considering the amount of data Zillow chews on, I can somewhat understand the problems. 70,000,000 tax records? New feeds everyday? Yes, Houston, we will have a problem from time to time.
So, do you update your information? Are you aware you can? If you don't update it, I'd love to know why? It's such a simple task and I would find it hard to believe you wouldn't take the time to do so. Especially if you are Mr. 32 bedroom ranch!
Below are three basic screenshots of the free access you get yourself and what you can do with the listings. All the info can be updated, photos can be added, descriptions, tours, etc.
