Are They Thinking of You?!

By
Education & Training

The summer has officially slipped into fall, the kiddos are back in school and the weather is starting to cool off. As the weather cools off, often times so do agents' real estate businesses and pipelines. According to Dr. Lawrence Yun that decline on average over the past 15 years has been 16.4 percent.

A lot of agents are scratching their heads about what to do to weather that valley in their business until they reach their next peak during the spring and summer busy season. When researching seasonal decline, and looking at ways for agents to stay hot when things cool down. I noticed a lot of the ideas out there had one thing in common-- creating mindshare.

Mindshare, which I also researched--according to Wikipedia, “relates generally to the development of consumer awareness or popularity, and is one of the main objectives of advertising and promotion. When people think of examples of a product type or category, they usually think of a limited number of brand names."

So when I say brown soda, or sneakers or cheeseburger...what are some of the brands that come to mind?

The brands that are popping into your head right about....NOW, that is mindshare! Those brands have successfully made themselves VERY visible in the market.

When mindshare is applied to real estate and real estate agents, there is only room for ONE agent and it needs to be YOU!

What marketing are you currently doing and going to do to be the agent that pops into the minds of buyers and sellers in your market?

Are you going to host a Autumn open house at your home or office?

Are you going to tap into your inner author and create a buyers and sellers guide explaining the upside to off-season buying and selling?

As you are staying top of mind and connected, use the season change to influence how to you get in touch and keep in touch, so no matter the time of year when people are thinking real estate they are thinking of YOU! You are their Nike, Coke a cola , McDonald's etc....

I had the pleasure of presenting "15 Fresh Fall Ideas for Filling Your Pipeline" to agents this week on how to create mindshare that will help them weather the fall and winter valley in their business.

Take a look at the recording of the class to decide if there is something you would like to implement into your business through the season change!

Great post! We as agents need to find new ways to stay at the forefront of buyers thoughts. At any given time during the year it's not as if people don't need homes. Circumstances and market changes may hinder the ability to buy but the demand is always there!

Great post.  Yes mind share is very important in our business.  My goal is to stay in front of them.  I send out farming letters once a month.  I also send out just sold/just listed cards.  I am working on newsletter once a month.  There are so many ways to market yourself.  I am finding that when you spend the time doing this it pays off.
