There seems to be much ado about blog ownership these days.

  • Do I own my blog platform infrastructure?
  • Do I own the content on my blog?
  • Do I own the search engine indexing I generate with my blog?
  • What does it mean to have a hosted blog or a free blog versus a custom blog that lives on my own server?
  • Is it in your best interest to own your blog platform infrastructure?

Today I took a huge step into blog ownership...I am having the Real Estate Tomato build and host my new blog.  I currently have one with Typepad, but because of many of the questions you list...I am finally going for blog ownership.

Hi Deborah.

First off, thank you for the kind words.

As for the Real Estate Tomato, I read the Blog and think it's great. My partner Kristen [who deserves credit for this informative post, by the way] and I both agree with the general philosophy there, which is education. After all, the web, search engines and people's use of them are ever- evolving.

I'm certain you'll do well with the service.

Hi Chris,

I did not realize that you were part of Kinetic Knowledge, so pardon me for my blabbing on about the RET.  I actually thought you were an agent posing questions for a post, and linking to a site because they did not understand how to answer the questions themselves.

It's funny, but yesterday I wound up at your site and another that I had not seen before, the day (after more than a year of wanting to hire the RET)  I finally made the commitment to get some serious help with my blog.  The funny part is that I did not know about any others except Mary's, and now I see that I had more choices.

If I had seen your site which looks to be a good one, I might have choosen yours.  Not sure how I missed yours, but I wish I had been aware if it sooner.  I hope the above commentors investigate your links further so they can see what you offer!

Wishing you much sucess with Kinetic Knowledge!
