The Texas Real Estate groups' handsome mascot now has a name...+ Winners of Contest

I am pleased to introduce the Texas Real Estate groups' mascot, TEX to yall

It has been a fun, fast, learning, and growing time over at our group on Active Rain. Over the last month we have had a great contest to find the prettiest church in Texas, grown by 68 new members, and have been very prolific and creative group, by posting 742 impressive blogs about everything Texas. We also had a celebration to name our handsome longhorn mascot, complete with a Texas shaped cake. The name on his birth certificate is TEX, which is a very proper name for a longhorn. I would like to thank everyone at Texas Real Estate group for their contributions, especially the people who took the time to give us some breathtaking pictures and impressive history of churches in many areas of Texas. They are, Ricki Eichler, MAUREEN STACCATO , Loreena Yeo , BILL CHERRY, Carl Winters, Marchel Peterson , Liz Carter, Christina and Kevin Stevens, and Candy Henthorne.

I would especially like to thank Judi Morganfor all her support, and encouragement. Carl Winters for his tireless pursuit in getting everyone out to vote for our mascot (of course there was a hidden agenda there, and maybe a little arm twisting). Carl, I think your name is great, and you managed to get an overwhelming number of members of our group to vote for Tex, while my name of Molly only got one vote, mine! Thanks for making it so much fun. Of course I have to mention our transplant Texan member Dale Baker who took the time to bake this cake for Tex.

I would like to express my gratitude to our two judges who took loads of time and put a great deal of thought into selecting our winners of this month's contest, Judge Gena Riede , and Judge Lucky Lang . As they said, it was not an easy task, and everyone is to be applauded for their impressive posts.

Liz - well done on the contest! You make me wish I was from Texas. I borrowed the picture of Tex for my desktop - I am not from Texas, but I am a Taurus and full of bull. I will be visiting all of the blogs that I haven't already read. Do any of you want to adopt me so that I can join the group?

Liz, so sorry for not getting back to you, I wish you knew how many calls I had all week, and I let it slip by me. Please ask me again and I will be happy to help you out. Seems like lots of people has questions this week.

What fun Liz! Love the mascot. Texas has gotta be proud having your sparkle and enthusiasm... Sorry I have nothing to contribute (being in Alabama), but I will say that, after 2 of my sales last week were for Buyers moving here from Texas, I LOVE TEXAS!! Wonderful people, those Texans, and I've been completely impressed with their exemplary style of business and storytelling. (and, oh yes, please adopt me too! :-)

Liz - One thing to add - If you see a longhorn wondering around in another state, call him TEX, and send him back to Texas.

If you are lost and need a place to live, come on over to Texas, we will give you a big welcome, TEXAS STYLE.

Liz - Worthy winners all the way around. Good job on the contest! I had a church in mind in downtown Austin, but I never got around to taking the pictures.

Liz, it looks as though you have a great group and some wonderful bloggers. I enjoyed every minute reading all of the entries and they should all be very proud of bringing such good information to the readers...churches, schools, Doctors, restaurants and places to go for fun are always something that home buyers moving into your great state of TX would be interested in knowing about.

Hi Mara, you are always so sweet, I just love hearing from you. Wow congratulations on your sales, that is great. Texas people are generally very friendly, so I'm glad you had some "real Texans", and yes we do love to tell stories. My Daddy was great at it, and always said, "If it's worth telling, it's worth exaggerating", and he did tell some tall ones :).

judge Hey Judge Gena, you will forever more be know as Judge Gena to me :). I could not have picked anyone better. You and Lucky both really took your role to heart, and made some very thoughtful judgements, and expressed insightful comments. I know all the contestants will enjoy hearing what you had to say. I will be doing another post that has more of what you and Lucky thought of the post at a later date, I did not want to put them with this one, they need special attention :). Hope you are feeling stronger every day. You need to come down here and spend some time with me in the Texas sunshine, and I can hook you up while your here...:), it will make you feel better :)...my bill will not be near as high as those damn doctors :). I go in on April 15th and will let you know what they have to say about me. Maybe we should run off to Mexico for a few years :).

Hey Marchel,I've been gone all day retaking my wildflower pictures...I lost 600 pictures because I hit something before I had them saved, and I had re formated my camera before I checked...don't do that :). Tex's new girlfriend in on Carl's post, I think he has stolen Tex away from us, and he has gotten very attached to him. We might have to consider doing something bad to him. Miz Liz -- aren't you glad I'm around -- how can we have a wedding without setting a date??? We'll set the date this Saturday and then start planning. Should they have a long engagement or a short engagement. I can pull together a wedding really fast -- I planned mine in a week and a half -- of course, it was probably a little simpler than the one we're throwing for TEX and MOLLY!!!

Nic photo of you and Rhett. What a Texas setting. We don't need a chapel for TEX & MS Molly, that would be a picture perfect setting for a Texas Size marriage. Plenty of room for "parking".

Ms. Judi, Ithink around a month should give us plenty of time to come up with some really cool stuff. The we can start another one about the honeymoon, and then another one about the family they are going to start...we can play with this a long time :). How long is a longhorn pregnant?

Carl, I totally agree, we sill pick out the best picture for this month's contest as the place to hold the wedding. Brilliant idea Carl!

Miz Liz, our special surprise guest has arrived in San Antonio. We've opened a bottle of wine -- special guest had a very, very long day with lots of delays -- thanks to American Airlines. Special guest has gone to bed and I just needed to check AR one more time. I'm going to bed early -- still gotta bake those pecan pies and bread pudding in the morning. Didn't get to get them done today -- was busy cleaning, grocery shopping and working...ran out of time. Will get them done bright & early in the morning!!!

Good Mornig Liz - I thought we had instructed you to stop running the internet till all hours of the morning.

It was a great, great day Saturday over in Bandera. Like I told Dale, it was all what we expected. Ceil was happy and felt like a great part of the group. Please don't encourage her too much, I need her with helping me with some of my stuff here on the Rain. She is really busy with alot of community activities and getting more involved every day now that she is no longer working. I figured it wouldn't take her long, she truly loves people and it getting into programs here in our community to help senior citizens. Enjoys fund raising for special projects so don't know how long I will have her and now of course excited to help out with Big Wedding. All I have to do is mention something about a comment and she'll come up with a suggestion without even thinking about it; 44 plus years she always amazes me. What does BWP stand for?
