Fuel for a Productive Day, Breakfast of Championsbreakfast of champions

A few weeks ago I was watching a video of Brian Tracy where he was talking about his morning routine for high productivity and was impressed at some of the similarities that we have.

Namely a good breakfast does make a difference!!!

When I go to various meetings I am always dissappointed to see that part of my registration fee is wasted on breads and pastries.  I learned years ago that these things make me want to take a nap, so I avoid them and just stick to my coffee and orange juice and let the rest of the crowd eat these tasty sleeping pills.

My friends thought that I was full of it with my theory on pastries in the morning until a few years ago when I was speaking with a psychologist about being productive despite my adhd, and he mentioned how important it was to avoid white breads as they have a tendency to block the neorons in the frontal cortex, basically making us lethargic.  He recommended doing what I had been doing, loading up on protein in the morning.

I had learned when I was young that if I really needed to perform, the best thing that I could do was force down a few eggs (when I was young I strongly disliked these things), and soon I was looking for ways to make them more palatable.

I will explore some of my methods of making the bland yet high energy egg a gormet delight in a few more blogs this month.

While you are enjoying this breakfast of champions, take a few minutes to learn about best practices for water quality and Forestry.

Hi Bob -- so bad for us but oh so tasty --- pastries and breads should be avoided especially during those early morning meetings where our minds need to be alert.

I do like eggs. Farm fresh ones that is. I use to have my own chickens and a good supply of these. Now I pay top dollar in the store for eggs, or I get them from a local farmer.

But all that aside...I now normally start my morning with raw yogurt and a high grain cereal with flax seed and I also dose myself with chia seeds. This seems to work for me.

Bob, Breakfast of Champions?  Um, where are the Wheaties?  Not that they are my favorite food for any meal.

Now that is a great health lesson Bob.  Way to go.  A nice Hawaii breakfast we have eggs, spam, seaweed and brown rice.  If you really want to go all out, 2 eggs, poi, Kalua Pig and cabbage with LomiLomi Salmon.

Yes, this is a good approach.  thx for the video. I've been trying to eat more protein.  It was helping my foot heal faster, but it turns out there are many other benefits.

Bob: As we age, we become much more aware of the concept of 'We are what we eat". As I read AR this morning before going to the gym, I would love a donut, but my mind is stronger and I will wait until done with my workout for  my protein drink, then look out world!

I don't usually have much of an appetite when I first get up, however I have found I can do oatmeal or an oatmeal bar.  I usually have coffee and never attend a meeting without an oatmeal bar or two in my bag.  Helps me stay focused.

You photo reminds me of the breakfast we would enjoy prior to working on the farm.  Now I don't do the physical work these days, but still know the value of eating a well balanced meal.

Looks good, but when I eat like that I am hungry all day long.  I prefer more of a late brunch.  Then I am good for most of the day.

Hi Bob! Having breakfast does make a difference in starting the day right. Now that you mention it, donuts, bagels. all that yummy stuff does make me want to go right back to bed most of the time!

Funny to read this post this morning.  Just emailed a friend about how few things beat a good bowl of Old Fashioned oatmeal for breakfast.  Mark style of course.  Selection of nuts, fruits, brown sugar etc.  lol

Make it a great weekend, Mark
