Historical Homes in Newton, MA. I was lent an 1889 version of King's Handbook of Newton by M.F.Sweetser by the owner of 114 Shornecliffe Road, Newton MA 02458, MLS #: 71746470. The history of Newton is deep, varied and filled with people who have made a difference in the world. Doctors, Lawyers, Educators, Horticulturalists, Thinkers and more have lived, worked and raised their families the seven short miles from downtown Boston.
In real estate this season there has been a comeback of new construction. Actually this is more like roaring back since it all but disappeared back in 2009-2012 when trickles began to be put up. Homes were being rehabbed, people were staying put. Lots of delayed maintanence over those years, but the great old homes of Newton were built in such a way with such grace, design and quality that they stand the test of time. 114 Shornecliffe Road was built in 1911 and stands as one of the best versions of it's special architecture from that time.
