What's Fall like in Maryland? Pretty, colorful and fun!
Fall in Maryland is all about:
Pumpkins & Apples
There are a number of pick-your-own-pumpkin patches, my personal favorite has always been Sharp's at Waterford Farm in Brookeville, MD.
Larriland is the place to go to pick-your-own apples. Expect crowds and bring a tall person as many of the apple trees will be picked clean at the bottom quickly.
Mazes and hay-rides
Many of the local farms set up a corn-or-hay maze and/or offer hayrides out to the patch. The corn-maze at Larriland costs $3 per child ( accompanying adults can get lost for free) and the hayrides without a stop at the patch are $4/person. At Sharp's the hayrides are free and admission to the corn maze costs $7/adult and $5/child.. Every year Sharp's comes up with a theme for their maze, for 2014 it is Black Bears and Coyotes.
Halloween Trains and Ghost Walks
The Halloween Train at Glen Echo Park starts running on October 11th, 2014 - it's a fun-and-not-so-spooky ride. Please bring a donation of canned food!
The best way to get your spook on is by experiencing a ghost walk in Ellicott City, Savage Mill, Annapolis or Frederick... trust me, it works!
Fall colors
It ain't Indian Summer but quite impressive nonetheless! Take a walk at Patapsco Valley State Park, enjoy a scenic ride through Western Howard County or Frederick County or discover stunning fall foliage opps at Centennial Lake.
