Every week I pick 10 posts that I think that could use a second look, a little more exposure, or that are so good that I want all my friends to have a chance to experience it.

This week is no exception and it has been a challenge to narrow the list down to 10, I hope that you enjoy these along with a few more that you may find on the author's blog site.

Take a few minutes to click on the title of this post, this will take you to the original blog post where the author would be excited to hear your thoughts on their post.

Having read the sad news about Beverly Carter, the agent in Arkansas who was kidnapped and killed by someone she was showing a home to, got me thinking.  How can we do our jobs but do it safely?

I have been reading lots of things from other agents on this, but this is how I plan to handle it from now on.  We will let our office know what properties we plan on showing.  When meeting a client at a property (for the first time) I am going to photograph the vehicle and license plate and then text it to my broker. Then I will ask them to show me their drivers license.  I will then photograph and text the picture to my broker as well.

Will "buyers" give me a hard time about it?  Maybe.  If they do that's OK.  We will explain that it is our office policy.  If they still won't comply we will simply leave, we won't work with them.  And with the license plate and drivers license pictures, that will at least protect us in some small manner.

I'd rather not carry mace or some other type of weapon, if at all possible. Hopefully common sense will be enough of a deterrent.

Here's a video from NAR about staying safe.

What are your thoughts on this?  How can you protect yourself?
