Every week I pick 10 posts that I think that could use a second look, a little more exposure, or that are so good that I want all my friends to have a chance to experience it.

This week is no exception and it has been a challenge to narrow the list down to 10, I hope that you enjoy these along with a few more that you may find on the author's blog site.

There was a recent contest for video's in Active Rain.  Nice point rewards for doing 3 videos.  For all the shouting about points I was very surprised how few actually participated in the contest.  Then I got to thinking.  Always a scary thought there.   I know when I first started with video it was very intimidating. I had bought an outdated Corel program.  Not intentional, only out of not knowing.  I became very frustrated in loosing videos to the system after an hour of working on them.  Or dreading putting one together knowing it would probably be an hour or more of my time.  Even though I knew long ago it was something I should be doing and even one video a month would add up after time.

I am by no means an expert now.  I do feel comfortable with my efforts and feel that they are beginning to make a small impact.  And I believe I continue to improve.  So to those of you that may feel intimidated hopefully this will help you move past that first step.

I currently use MOVIE MAKER.  I am sure there are many more expensive programs with lots more bells and whistles.  Did I mention you can down load Movie Maker for free?  At some point in time I may move to a more advanced system with all the bells and whistles.  Did I mention you can download MOVIE MAKER for free?  lol

Obviously it will take a few tries to get the program down even after downloading.  Key points for this dinosaur are the easy downloads of pictures, or videos, from your computer to the program.  Easy drag and drop to arrange them in the order you want in your movie, once to the Movie Maker screen.  Easy captions or titles can be added.  Another item is the ease with which you can add back ground music and narration, then adjust which you would like to be prominent.  Length of picture time a snap to adjust.  List goes on.  Like anything the more I use it the easier it is to navigate with confidence.

I might add also separate from Movie Maker, I use 'DAWN Royalty Free" music.  A library that will exhaust me before I exhaust it.  Another very simple download.  Not "FREE".  Very enexpensive I feel.

To give an idea of the ease I timed myself on THIS 'YOUTUBE' VIDEO OF HALLEY AND I WALKING just outside of Bonners Ferry Fairgrounds.  Less than a mile from downtown Bonners Ferry.  Seems to be one of her favorite spots.  She can run freely, hide from me, and pop her head up to be sure I have not gotten too far away.

I had taken 20 to 25 photo's and video's of her and uploaded them all from the computer to Movie Maker. I deleted, downsized time frames, set order, shortened video's, put in captions and narration, added music for video all in less than 20 or 25 minutes.  That would have taken me longer first few times of course, or if I had not done a video recently.  It is not like I have done hundreds of YouTube video's as of yet on the other hand either.

So if you are holding back on doing video's for your listings, blogs, or anything else, give it a try.  You will be amazed at how simple it can be and fun seeing the end result.  Did I mention Movie Maker download is FREE?
