Buying a San Francisco condo - the choice is yours

By

The fall months can be a great time to buy the San Francisco condo you've been wanting. While our current market certainly can't be said to be a "buyer's market" new listings are hitting the market at a time when many buyers have given up for the year.

And that can be a good thing for you.

Here's a sample of just some of the condos in one small area of Pacific Heights from which you might choose--none are more than 2 blocks away from Lafayette Park:

2200 Sacramento Street2200 Sacramento Street, at the corner of Laguna and across from beautiful Lafayette Park. Curently there's a 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo listed for sale at $899,000. It has City, Bay, and Golden Gate Bridge views.

1950 Gough StreetOn the opposite side of Lafayette Park is 1950 Gough Street. Here there's a 1-bedroom, 1-bath unit listed for sale at $895,000. It is a remodeled unit, has parking for one car, views and a fireplace

1880 Jackson StreetTwo blocks away, a block north of Lafayette Park, is 1880 Jackson Street, where you'll find a 2-bedroom, 2-bath corner penthouse listed at $1,795,000. Golden Gate Bridge and Bay views are highlights here, in this well-maintained building, currently getting a bit of a facelift.

1895 Pacific AvenueAnd here at 1895 Pacific Avenue -- a 1-bedroom, 1-bath condo listed at $875,000. This is a corner unit in a lovely Art Deco building.

2016 Pacific AvenueAnd our last one for today - a 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit at 2016 Pacific, listed at $1,495,000. This 2-level unit has a large deck with water views - an elevator, too. (The lovely street trees precluded a photo of the entire front of the building, but you can tell it's newer than many of the others, and a smaller building, too.

If now's the time for you to start living your San Francisco Dream, give me a call and we'll talk.

Lottie - of course, they are impressive, but so different in price with our condos. We are cheap, cheap, cheap compared to your prices. You can have a condo on the ocean for the 1/3 of this price. And we are complaining :)

Looks like some beautiful opportunities are available for anyone in the market for a San Fran condo.  Prices are high but you can't beat a beautiful view and the lifestyle SF affords.

Those are some nice looking condos Lottie Kendall. It looks like the San Francisco condo market is on fire. It seems like every time I visit there is a new condo tower going up.

I have always bee in love with the architecture of San Francisco. Those old buildings are nothing but fantastic and hopefully a little more affordable than the houses in the area.

Lottie, the art deco building at 1895 Pacific is just gorgeous. And Golden Gate, Bay and city views at 2200 Sacramento - can't beat that!

Good morning, Lou Ludwig - San Francisco has an amazing mix of condos--something to please every buyer.

Paul Henderson - agreed; the mix of architecture helps make San Francisco such an interesting city. Condos are priced lower than single-family homes in the same neighborhoods, but not by much.

Hello Gene Mundt, Chicago-area Mortgage Lender - www.genemundt.com - I'm glad you enjoyed the tour!

Hello Maria Gilda Racelis - there's no two ways about it - San Francisco is an expensive city; prices are high, but so are the benefits of living here.

I'm glad you're a fan of our city, Joe Petrowsky!

Suzanne De Vita - I agree with you, the Art Deco buildings are lovely. One thing all of these various condos have in common: proximity to Lafayette Park.

I know, but yet it is always a surprise that the differences are so significant. the funny thing is that there are markets even more affordable than ours... And I am sure there are markets even more affluent than yours.

Yes, real estate is really local

Very true, Jon Zolsky, Daytona Beach, FL To underscore that, here's an article from today's SFGate, the online newspaper of the Chronicle.
