No shortage of water to paddle in a canoe or kayak or raft this year in Maine.

Record winter snowfalls translates into plenty of water volume to push the craft down the swollen rivers and streams in "Vacationland". The Kenduskeag River Race in the Bangor Maine area is pretty big and growing in popularity. Learn about it here. For a You Tube video on the event, sit back and gander here. The Houlton Maine Meduxnkeag River Race was started by the Houlton Rotary Club and Race Director Peter Blood reports May 3rd as the date to mark on your calendar. More on that race as it gets closer and happens!

It is amazing what a day of sun, some higher temperatures and cabin fever disappears from winter.

I live just off the Chattahooche River in Atlanta and leisurly rafting and kayaking are definitely a big part of the river life. Your lake sounds huge and looks very nice! Is the river freezing (the water in the Chattahooche is very cold)! Ocean and river kayaking were also a big sport in Florida!

Andrew, what no snow??? We just have a little pile left - nice to see spring has made it to your neck of the woods.

Rich..that cold water can be dangerous...no energy if you get dumped in a cold river in early spring for sure. Chattahooche must be one honkin' river too.  What was the song that included it or was that the Tallahatchee (spelling) Bridge that something got thrown off from by Billy Joe McAllister? Did I get that right?  Bonnie..oh yeah..we still have snow and the farm I live on has too much for me to get my Jeep in the garage...snow got a little ahead of me on the tail end...Spring is coming...

LOL...you are too funny! Here is the YouTube LINK to the Chattahoochee song! The video is pretty funny (and as far as I know you can't ski on the Chattahoochee, not most of it anyway)! I think this is the SONG you are referring to by Bobbie Gentry...LOL...Tallahatchie Bridge!
