What's In A Name?

I have a very common name.  Just Google "Mark Boyd" and you'll find out that I was born in 1562, I'm a bicycling expert, I'm the associate professor of the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and I'm a professional soccer player with Barrow AFC.

Of course, I'm none of those things.  I often wonder if the fact that my name is so common is the reason I'm so interested in other people's names and how they can be incorporated into working slogans.  In my conversations with agents every day, I come across some who recognize the marketability of their name.

Not all of us are blessed with marketable names, but I encourage you (if you already haven't) to look at your name and think about the possibilities.  Heck, email me and I'll put in my two cents.

Recently I have been inspired by these people, who have done just wonderful things with their names:

Ray Nellum:  "To buy or sell 'em, call Ray Nellum!"    (I just love that!)

Genie Reynolds:  Her real estate group is called Magic Genie Realty.  That gives a whole new meaning to "dream home."

And think about the possibilities of what's in YOUR name:)

I often Google to see "what's going on".  So far, I'm a pretty noted Professor in Arizona teaching the flute.  I also see that I "was" a Realtor at another brokerage and for some reason, a profile or 2 comes up.  Then I see some more current info as well.

I do like the "Professor in Arizona" think.  I makes me look well rounded.....  :-)

well............i check google from time to time. absolutely amazed that i have risen to number 21. it is easy to get buried by the infamous preacher, the wool pioneer and the editor of harpers. i take solace in the fact that few folks will be using the google database to locate me. for whatever reason, my blogs are found and i have garnered a few clients from my musings.

My name is pretty unique.  I'm the only one that comes up when you google it.
