Canaan Square

Mead Street, New Canaan, Connecticut 06840

Canaan Square comprises 14 rustic colonial townhouses located in chic New Canaan. These classic white brick condominiums were built in 1964, and range from 1,200 to 1,750 square feet. These spacious units have either two or three bedrooms, and have 1.5 to 2.5 bathrooms.

The large and sunny living rooms come with easy-to-maintain hardwood floors, detailed crown molding, many built-in cabinets, cozy fireplaces, and beautiful French doors which lead out to the private terrace and stone-walled garden area. The eat-in kitchen areas have wood floors

with updated cabinets and top of the line appliances. Some of the units at Canaan Square have basement areas that are finished, but all provide

extra storage opportunities regardless. The one car garages are either attached or detached, but all have potential for expansion. Canaan Square is heated with clean electric heat and cooled with central air conditioning.

Canaan Square falls into the South Elementary School, Saxe Middle School, and New Canaan High School districts.

Close to your front door at Canaan Square are the trendy shops of New Canaan, as well as the restaurants, antique shops, art galleries, and wine stores, which fill bustling Main Street.

A short drive from your home will bring you to either the New Canaan train station or the Merritt Parkway – both providing convenient access to New York City and Stamford.

About The Town of New Canaan

Rogers Studio, New Canaan

Located in Fairfield County, one of the most affluent counties in the United States, New Canaan is a gorgeous town that provides a perfect balance of contemporary living with a New England charm.

New Canaan was established in 1731 as Canaan Parish and originally the area was a religious community in northwestern Norwalk and northeastern Stamford. Initially, Canaan Parish was not designed as a town, so when it was incorporated in 1801, New Canaan didn’t have a main street or a town hall. The settlement developed as an agricultural community and it remained one until late 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century when shoemaking transformed the town and became the major industry in New Canaan.

As time went on, there were many other small companies that started to grow in different parts of town. Wealthy people were soon attracted to the town once the railroad arrived in New Canaan. Some of them were so charmed by New Canaan that they decided to move to town and began commuting to their jobs in New York City.

New Canaan was also an important center for the modern design movement from the late 1940s through the 1960s. Attracting many artists, writers and media people, world famous architects found in New Canaan a place where their ideas could come to life. They then managed to create many cutting edge homes. The most famous of all was the Glass House, created by Philip Johnson, which can be visited by appointment.

Over the years, New Canaan has grown into a wonderful place that offers residents a comfortable, modern lifestyle. With its art galleries and historic sites, the town always adds to its cultural value.

Additionally, there are many recreational activities to be enjoyed in New Canaan, as there are many parks and open spaces. Located close to Stamford and New York City, the town gives residents the chance to escape to different places and enjoy the surrounding cities.

Hello Dagny,

Easy to see why buyers would love a New Canaan Square Townhome, and why the current owners don't move!
