I was talking on the phone today with a real estate agent here in the Northwest about his online marketing efforts.
He's been running a bit of Adwords campaign. Not spending a lot of money, not getting a lot of clicks and not getting a lot of results.
Today, he decided to turn the thing off. Why? Because no one clicks on those ads right? No one uses the sponsored links.
If no one is using the sponsored links, then where is all of Google's Revenue coming from? Upwards of 90% of their revenue is generated through those little meaningless clicks. 90+% that is staggering.
Even if you are not convinced and you think that Adwords is a total waste of time and money... I'm sure you don't think that organic SEO is a waste right?
To be showing up # 1 on Google for Seattle Real Estate or Bay Area Real Estate is everyone's dream. If you are interested in Organic or Natural SEO then don't snub your nose at the pay per click side of Google, because PPC (pay per click) has a lot that can be offered to the Organic side.
3 Ways that your Pay Per Click Campaign can influence the Organic SEO
1. Hard and Fast Data about Keywords that Work!
What does that mean? You put some keywords into your Adwords campaign and discover, "hey there are a lot of searches for this term... a lot of people are downloading my free report... this is a great keyword" Keyword Research with Adwords is second to none. Now that you know the keyword performs, you begin to optimize for it.
2. Testing Different Ad Copy
Google will let you create multiple ad variations and then will tell you which one works the best. So... Your ad title Bay Area Real Estate get's more clicks than Real Estate in San Fran. You've learned something about what people like online. Marketing online is all about testing and tracking and there is nothing more powerful than adwords for testing and tracking.
3. Testing Your Landing Page.
Wouldn't you like to know which copy or image on your website would work the best to get people to download your report, or pick up the phone, or fill in the form. With adwords you can! It is not guess work or someones opinion there is real data to show you what works.
If you are neglecting Adwords because all that matters is organic... then think again.
Yes organic SEO is the best, but Adwords can be the foundation for your SEO campaign.
