Our Attitude and The Economy

It has been amazing to me to watch various players in our market and how they have reacted to the changing market. Some have slid down the "doom and gloom slide" and some have take the bear by the ears, stayed positive and changed their marketing approach to accommodate the changing needs of the market.

Unsurprisingly, the "doom and gloom" bunch have created their own self-fulfilling prophecy. Business has been terrible for them. What have they done about it, more whining about how bad the housing market and credit markets continue to be terrible. As a consumer, most of us avoid the Eyeore's of life; those who always see the black cloud in any situation.

When you go to the store, are you more inclined to ask the upbeat happy and helpful salesperson or the guy slouching around who won't look you in the eye.

On the opposite side, those who have taken the bear by the ears, they are reporting some of their best years ever. They are taking on the first time home buyers, they are educating themselves about FHA loans, they are educating themselves about investment property and 1031 exchanges. The question to ask is: "who's buying in this market and how can I market myself to those buyers?" That's the way to take the Bear  by the Ears.

Remember, in times of uncertainty, the only thing we can control is our ATTITUDE. Nobody can give us a bad attitude, we do it all by ourselves! It's just as easy to develop a positive, "move forward" attitude as it is to gripe and complain.

Let's tackle today and make the best day we can. Avoid the Eyeore's because misery definitely loves company.
