The Oddfellows Playhouse & MARC Present "The Stone Cutter's Wish", in Middletown, CT on November 7th. at 11:30 a.m. This will be a special performance of "The Stone Cutter's Wish" by MARC Community Resources with the help of the Oddfellows Playhouse.
MARC Community Resources assists children and adults with intellectual & Developmental disabilities to realize and achieve their dreams and hopes. MARC in particularly works with children and adults with Downs Syndrome to become a part of the community and develop their talents, and what better way to display their talents than through the performing arts.
"The Stone Cutter's Wish" is a play about a Chinese Folk Tale about a poor Stonecutter who wants to achieve a better lifestyle and achieve a higher social position. He achieves his goal through a series of wishes, but in spite of achieving his desires he is not happy, so he aspires to become more powerful. Eventually, he comes to the realization true happiness is not in money and social position, but with satisfaction within what we are, in his case a lowly stonecoutter.
Below is a video of a performance of "The Stone Cutter's Wish" by Wishing Chair Productions. It is almost 24 minutes long, but in my opinion well worth the time to watch.
