"Fat Wednesday"... am not!

I just learned that today is "Fat Wednesday". It is technically the day of the year when people in America consume the most calories. The reason for this is because today is the peak of a 4 week 'lazy' trend. Most new years resolutions fizzled out in March and a majority of people do not start getting in shape for summer just yet. On top of that there is usually left over Easter candy still lurking around that is begging to be consumed. SOOOOO today is classified as "Fat Wednesday".

What are you doing to buck the trend today?! Lets turn "FW" day into a breakout day when we renew our exercise goals and step up our programs.

Tonight, instead of hitting the couch to watch re-runs or to see who gets kicked off Idol, go hit the gym or the pavement. Don't eat dessert, candy, or drink pop today and if you have to eat out for a lunch appointment (like I do) then make a healthy choice.

... Just some food for thought (sorry, couldn't pass up the obvious pun!)

Ken, thanks.

Rick, its tough but staying in shape will only get more difficult!

Maria, the trick is getting your mind to believe that at 5:30 in the morning!

I am on day one of the Loma Linda diet today Jeff, so I am doing my part to reduce caloric intake today!

Steve, I took a look at that diet and read the diet plan before I read anything else. I was relieved to find out it was a one week cleanse used periodically and not a permanant way of eating! (I bet it has fun with your digestive system!)

Hi Jeff,

I was not aware of this, but it makes sense. I like your attitude... now go work out! :)

It's amazing, Jeff. I didn't know anything about this holiday and yet I celebrated it!  Now where did that Pralines & Cream Ice Cream go?

Jeff,

Too, too late!  I hit the sodas hard and fast yesterday.  It was beginning of the month for us and we get really busy.

Bill, of all the extra caloric items - soda is such a waste! You will find more energy if you kick the habit and turn to fruits/nuts. For example: studies show that an apple helps wake you up better then a cup of coffee. Glad you are busy though!

 *UPDATE*

It must have been this post I made or something because I continued strong with my excersising for another week but then started struggling to get a good work out. I felt blah and it has taken me almost a month to ramp things back up to the same intensity level.... interesting... I guess thats the last time I pay any attention to a "fat holiday"!
