Like Canva? You'll LOVE This!
If you're like us and like to create great looking graphics for your blog, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other social media, then you were probably with us on Bob Stewart 's webinar back on August 8, "How to Make Fantastic Real Estate Flyers in Five Minutes", and you probably also read Nestor & Katerina Gasset 's informative blog post, "How to Create Real Estate Flyers with Canva.com". Both of these resources gave some amazing info on how to create real estate flyers and other graphics using Canva.com, a free web site that allows you to make all sorts of things, from Facebook cover images and posters to photo collages, invitations, business cards and custom graphics.
I'm sure that by now many of you have gone to the web site and tried it out and found it to be an easy-to-use site for creating eye-catching images for all your social media needs. And, up until now it's only been available by going to the web site. But not any more.
Now you can get the ability to create those beautful graphics anywhere you go on your iPad! You still get all the features of the web site, but also some great new ones as well:
- the app is very intuitive, with your fingers becoming part of the design process.
- buttons are bigger to allow you to use your fingers to do the designing!
- the iPad-friendly keyboard appears seamlessly when you need it so you can enter in text by tapping on the keyboard
- you can take photos on the go, and incorporate them into your designs on location (very, very cool).
- the iPad app connects to your photo library giving you instant access to your own images
- you can now collaborate with your designer or clients on the go, making projects fun and easy to complete.
Here's a short video showing Canva on the iPad in action:
One thing I did notice is that not all of the templates from the web site are available on the iPad version. Some of the missing ones include the Twitter header, Kindle cover, Facebook ads and Google+ cover, and also, unfortunately, the real estate flyer. Hopefully in future updates those will also be added to the iPad.
All in all, Canva is a versatile and beautifully designed app and I urge you to take a look at it soon and see if you agree. To download the iPad version, click the image above or this link to get it from iTunes. I could not locate it in the App Store yet, but hopefully that will be corrected soon as well.
I hope you enjoy Canva as much as we do, let us know what you think in comments!
