Austin TX is an incredible place to live, work and play. The City of Austin real estate is even better. The downtown area sits in a low basin with mostly flat land to the east and hilly areas with limestone outcroppings to the west, separated by a river flowing through town. The Austin area continues to be regarded by most as the best choice in Texas, with a balance of a strong economy, good education, attractive housing, a relatively pleasant climate, and plenty to do. Highlights include the University of Texas, an important music scene, and a large high-tech industry, including Dell, Inc. in Round Rock, 20 miles north.

Growth is spreading mainly north, towards Round Rock and Pflugerville accompanied by plenty of middle-class housing, and large areas of more upscale housing lie to the west among the hills and towards Lake Travis.

Located in Central Texas on the eastern edge of the American Southwest, Austin is the capital of the state of Texas, the Lone Star State. The city dates back to the 1830s, when the first Anglo-American settlers arrived in the area, then part of Mexico. In 1837, settlers founded the village of Waterloo on the banks of the Colorado River, the first permanent settlement in the area. By 1839, Waterloo would adopt the name Austin and the frontier town would become the capital of the Republic of Texas. The City is named for Stephen F. Austin, the “Father of Texas.”

Austin’s mild climate allows you to enjoy outdoor activities virtually year round. Austin has 300 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 71 degrees in November.
