On September 2nd I wrote an article for the OCBR newsletter (and a blog here: http://actvra.in/4mMd) as soon as the USDA announced adjustments to the future maps and a reminder that the Maps were scheduled to change October 1st. Unfortunately with anything in print things can change by time articles are published. In Uncle Sam’s infinite wisdom the Implementation of New Rural Area Ineligible Maps were delayed (AGAIN). So if it was eligible, it still will be until December 11, 2014. The reason for this is there is a push to change the definition of “rural” - increasing the population limit, allowing greater areas to be eligible for use with the program. Rumors are that previous announcements will be thrown out and eventually there will be a decision and notification of what the future will hold. For now we only know that on 12/11/2014 we may lose some of the currently eligible areas in our marketplace.
