Every week I pick 10 posts that I think that could use a second look, a little more exposure, or that are so good that I want all my friends to have a chance to experience it.

This week is no exception and it has been a challenge to narrow the list down to 10, I hope that you enjoy these along with a few more that you may find on the author's blog site.

Take a few minutes to click on the title of this post, this will take you to the original blog post where the author would be excited to hear your thoughts on their post.

Eating an Elephant (or, writing 20 blogs in a week)

I'm sure most people reading this have heard the question "How do you Eating an elephanteat an elephant?" answered with "one bite at a time".  It's a pretty good analogy for anything in life - unquestionably, the best way to complete just about anything is to get started.  When ActiveRain changed the point structure to allow 20 blogs each week to count for points, I was pretty certain I would never get there.  To date, I'm not sure I've ever written 10 blogs in a week.  Consider this an accountability post.

By Sunday, I'm hoping to have 20 blogs (almost 1 down!) published and then will never do it again until I hire an assistant.  Why?  Simply, to see if I can.  Now's a great opportunity - I've been a slacker in the rain over the past few weeks so I have plenty of material saved up.  It's the holiday season, I haven't completed all of Octobers AR contests yet, and I've got some marketing posts that NEED to get done (ok, letsbehonest, they've NEEDED to get done for the past couple weeks).

So it's Monday, and I pulled together some ideas and came up with about 15 posts for the week - will I make 20?  Not a clue.  I am thankfully busy with new loan applications (while I've been slacking in the rain the past few weeks, I've been doing anything but outside of the rain), have some appointments, and lots of other marketing to do, but again - that's the point of this accountability post.  If I hit 20, I'll know just how difficult and time consuming it is (albeit, beneficial) to do 20 posts while still reading/leaving comments for others & addressing their comments on my post.  If I don't, I fully expect to write an "I suck!" blog on Sunday and hope the AR community will come together to publicly shame me for being a failure.

 Shark teeth

Unless you've got listings, templated market reports, and a daily rotation already in the works (or you're just blogging a picture or a paragraph about what you had for breakfast), I think 20 posts in a week is likely overkill and probably not the best use of time - but until I do it, how am I to know?  20 blogs seems like a good sized elephant.  I'm considering this the first bite**.

Hey Bob, yeah I caught this from John earlier and laughed as I agree thats the way you do it but my best effort got me to 13 or 14 posts in a week one time. 20 is simply too much if you actually have a job

I did 20 posts in a week...just once. It took a lot of time. I won't be doing it every week that's for sure. But it looks like AR is going to take the maximum number you get points for back down to ten, so I won't feel compelled to do 20 in a week ever again.

Thanks for the reblog, Bob.  I gave up early, wasn't worth the effort and actually burned me out, especially while dealing w/the latest AR bugs.  It was too much.
