The holidays are just around the corner. Magazines are now flooding into my mailbox with all kinds of gift previews and enticements to buy for holiday gift exchange. Strangely enough, these are magazine companies I never saw before or ordered from either. But that's not the point. For amusement, I looked through the magazines and saw words advertisers use to get you under their power to buy or persuade the consumers, they must have this item for that unusual person that is hard to shop for during the holiday season.
Here's a sample of some words and phrases that caught my eye and made me question how real do marketing techniques have to be to get away with soliciting to the general public; furthermore, do they have proof?
- The only genuine Irish
- The only outdoor heated
- The world's largest
- The world's best
- The best nose hair trimmer
- The Genuine Turkish bathrobe
- The European flannel pajamas
- The only superior gentleman's
- The only flame-less marshmallow roaster
- The total body support
- The world's lightest
- The only Diabetic lady's heels
- The world's smallest
- The only organized
- The only long range
- The best low impact
- The authentic French
- The most realistic
- The only washable cashmere
- The only pinch-less hair remover
All these powerful, influential, and persuasive words got me thinking about how strict the NAR, State and local associations are when it comes to Realtor advertising.
Real Estate agents are obliged to abide by strict advertising rules and regulations.
