Wordless Wednesday: The Colors Of Harvest!

Gorgeous.  Look at all those different egg plants.  I do live the white variety, my father-in-law used to grow it in his garden. 

The farmer and his daughters created a beautiful fall display of vegetables. Fall is my favorite time of year for the colors, crisp air and comfort foods. Unfortunately our produce season is coming to an abrupt end.  

What a gorgeous display! I guess merchandising vegetables shouldn't really be a surprise at an open air market, but this is really lovely

Good morning A & R. I love color anyway, so seeing the photos definitely gets my attention. Now, if you guys would just get some more rain, that would be a gift.

I love to see art in everyday things!  What are those striped deals in the basket?  They look like bite-sized eggplants!

Good evening A&R.  Yes, California has so much produce and flowers. I was really amazed the last time I was out there.

There's no question about it, Moussaka takes time, but is worth the effort.  I hadn't thought to freeze it.  That's a great idea!  Does the Bechamel sauce hold up pretty good if you do?

Do you freeze before baking, or bake and then freeze?  I know where I can get my hands on some wonderful eggplant.  I may fill my freezer this weekend. Also, rather than frying the breaded eggplant near the beginning of the process. I put the eggplant slices on cookie sheets and broil them instead.  I can process many more of them faster that way.

Oh how I love those colors together! The texture of the harvest is glorious and those baskets of aubergine, golds and red work beautifully together-of course the shiny white eggs help keep everything in balance.  Just like the color wheel!

Wow - Using the panini press sounds like a wonderful idea.  Yep, tomorrow afternoon we are supposed to get rain.  I'm headed out tomorrow morning to do my shopping, and I'll spend the afternoon in the kitchen.  Now, to make room in the freezer. . .LOL

What a feast for the eyes! Your market yields so many gorgeous veggies and fruits that we never see in my part of Tennessee.

Hi Alexandra, These colors are just beautiful, especially when all put together. I was half visualizing putting all these together in an arrangement with some flowers in between. Beauty seems to have no boundry.
