Blog Post Cap - 10 Per Week

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with ActiveRain, Community Manager

Months and months ago a decision was made to raise the blog post point cap from 10 to 20 per week.  The thought was that this move would increase our content thus making AR's domain authority that much stronger.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen.  A concern about the quality of posts being created began the moment we announced this cap raise; alas I stuck by my guns and kept it at 20 to see if things would change.

I cannot ignore the enormous amounts of feedback I've received on this subject.  One of the greatest parts of this community is your initiative to send us as well as the ability to beautifully get your feedback across in a positive way to us. And I'll never forget my 11-year-old Christmas present lesson, "Quality over Quantity".

In our latest release on Monday, October 20th, we lowered the point cap for blog posts back to 10. Comments remain at 20/day.  This means you will receive points for up to 10 posts in a week starting at 12:00am on Monday and ending at 11:59pm on Sunday.

Excellent process and I aplaud your willingness to listen.  I do think the 20 comments per day was an awesome move.  As a result, I have met a bunch of new folks, become more involved and picked up a slew of new subscribers.  Thanks!

I did think that 20 blogs in a week was a lot and would dilute the quality of each blog. Good move Kerrie.

I agree with Bill Roberts...5 blogs a week by anyone is enough input on any subject. Shakespear could not write his masterpieces overnight, nor should we!

Kerrie, I am really pleased to hear this. A post a day is feasible. The extra three is an enticement each week. Twenty was throw in the towel from the get go. Good news. The extra ten comments are a stretch but obtainable.

Hi Kerrie, I certainly agree with this decision and glad we are back to the 10 posts. When you think about it, 10 blogs a week cover a good bit of information.

Glad you got back to senses. I never could understand how a full time working agent can possibly write 20 quality posts per week.

Good morning Kerrie,

So glad to see you the 10 posts a week are back on the table! 20 posts a week for anyone who is trying to list or sell, stage or whatever is daunting. There are so many hours in a day and I for enjoy time with my family, friends and past clients!

A thought leader, every once in a while, will make a mistake, and the market doesn't respond as expected.

Reposition, recalibrate, move with new strategy.

Smart.

I'm fine either way. I'm pretty sure those doing more than 10 a week were either "theme" based or just posting listings.  I will be bumped my recent blogs will have less listings..drats.. LOL   just kidding...

Sounds like a good change to make and interesting to hear it didn't effect the 'domain authority' like you'd hoped for.

Oh well, it was an obvious guaranteed crap producer, seems like everybody agrees.

Content-wise Active Rain of 2007-2010 had way more value. It is rather diluted now, and I agree, there is no reason to dilute it even more.
