There Are No Limits On How Many Times a Topic Can Be Covered!

One of the hardest things a new blogger has to overcome is finding a topic.  This is especially true if you are attempting to write a 30 in 30 challenge. Blogging topics(Keep your eyes open for one coming up via Donna Foerster)

I know that when I began blogging, the hardest thing for me was finding a topic.  Then, once I picked a topic, I worried that someone else had already covered the topic, so therefore I shouldn’t.

Far from the truth….. there are no limits on how many times a topic can be covered.

1. We want to hear your spin on the topic.

What you have to say comes from you and your perspective on the topic.   Write about YOUR thoughts on Open Houses or Vacant Home Stagings, or tell us of your experience with mail outs or FHA loans.

2. Take no offense, but not everyone reads or remembers your posts, or those of anyone else.

Honestly, I look back on some of the posts I’ve written and can’t remember writing them.  Witness Pat Kennedy’s weekly posts…. as many ActiveRain posts that I read for my own weekly post, there are always 1 or 2 posts included in her round up that I have missed.

3.You change, times change and so does your perspective on a topic.

I have revisited some of my older posts and rebirthed them.  However, I don’t just copy and paste them. (Frowned upon) I will take the general concept then give them a 2014 voice.

The next time a topic pops into your head, go ahead and write about it.   You can never go wrong with this… just make sure to make sure it’s your voice we’re reading.

Topics will be repeated but I still enjoy reading every blog post. You ask four people to write about "Bully Offers" and you'll get four different takes on it with four different writing styles.

Great advice Kathy Streib - All drivers drive a car but everyone's skill levels are different and I believe that to be with Real Estate as well.  For Cheryl Ritchie - I believe there's a 30 for 30 contest starting in November.  I will find the link and send it you.  Have an awesome weekend.

Topics get repeated many times because the message has changed.  Besides, repeating similar topics lends itself to making one an expert!

I remember when I was new and I blogged on something that was NEW to me. Someone commented and said...THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN COVERED. I was devastated....Then, over time, I realized that things may have been covered, but they were not covered by ME....My first time is just that....

Kathy reminds me of there is nothing new under the sun Biblical wisdom. I have probably counted 20!!! already articles I have read on drones as an example. My funniest one which I have seen a hundred on and even I have written on it in some past ife is How To Hold An Open House. TO ME it is massively boring now, but to someone else it is fresh!!

So true.  Sometimes I feel like all I do is talk about the same thing over and over.  You forget that you are talking to people who are not as familiar with the topic.

Kathy....you're talking about blogging topics?

Oh, when I think "countless times and no limits on perspectives for particular topics".... I think of a few conversations we have at home, which, have not yet been resolved after 20+ years.  There's always another angle to be covered.

Kathy,

There are only so many topics any of us can write about. Recycling a topic becomes necessary. The different perspectives is what makes them readworthy.

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

I'm a person who can come home from shopping at Nordstrom and find an identical pair of Eileen Fisher pants hanging in my closet -- but that never happens with my writing and I often cover the same topic over and over. It doesn't matter if one repeats herself because it will be a different point of view. There's always a different point of view, even your own.

Kathy, At this point, I write what I want to write about that day, whether I've covered it before or not.  The slant today won't be exactly the same as the last time, and some messages can't be overemphasized to some of the public.
