One can always tell when it’s hunting season. Dotted along the forest and wooded paths are beer cans, burger bags and other sordid human desecration. Is there some pact amongst hunters that says, no littering does not apply to us? Are their trucks so pristine that they can’t keep their trash inside the vehicles but must feel compelled to toss them as soon as the last sip or bite occurs?
Or is it like Hansel and Gretel, just in case they get lost, they can find their way back by the Busch cans deftly placed along their trail of destruction?
It’s too bad that the deer and elk can’t see this as a sign and say to themselves, “Let’s hightail it outta here!”
May I also add the idea that you don’t leave your leftover dead animal heads and entrails thrown along the side of the gravel road that most of us use for walking our dogs or ourselves, especially when you have decided to shoot something out-of-season, like an elk in September.
And by all means, remember “friendly fire” is not part of your hunting expedition either.
Please do me a favor and:
Don’t litter
Don’t leave dead carcass parts along the road
Don’t shoot your friends
I would be most happy if you just spent some quality time in male bonding, walking quietly through the woods, enjoying a good story around the campfire and going home empty-handed without injurying anyone or anything. And leave the land the way you found it.
One more thing: I don't like cleaning up after you...especially since we're not married.
