Richard's response to my last post reminded me to write the 2nd 1/2 of the post. That post was directed towards all those folks out there who got in this business with the intent to build their OWN highly productive business and have become frustrated by  an unexpectedly slow launch . . . These folks have and exude talent and the will to do this, and other folks recognize this and seek them out as partners (or folks who they can pass overflow leads to) . . . but their wish is to find their way as highly productive INDIVIDUAL or LEAD AGENTS of their OWN TEAMS - and some of these people have contacted me for coaching as to how to handle the conflicting thoughts in their head: "Do I abandon my individual effort altogether?" "Do I entertain these distractions and piecemeal the thing by accepting work from these folks all the while working on developing my own business?" - OR - "Do I decide to quit the individual effort and partner as a specialist with someone else?" - That was my "pep-talk" to those folks. 

I do plenty of that myself as The Owen Group often pulls in more leads than we can handle. Our solution is that we have defined "Buyer Specialists" who we refer leads to.

The clarification?

Richard is TOTALLY right about having some depth so the business can be handled by someone in the office. I am 100% supportive of the team concept and a true believer in TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) . . . and there are plenty of folks who are interested in working in the real estate industry and are licensed and have decided that their optimal path is not that of "Lead Agent" or "Solo Agent" . . . these are the invaluable group of people who raise their hands as SPECIALISTS (Administrative or Buyer) . . . These are the DEPTH in our offices.

I think the bottom line to all of it is for all of us to REALLY focus on our individual strengths and goals and live authentically. If you want a highly productive individual business, find the models - develop the systems - and surround yourself with the PEOPLE necessary to realize your aspirations. If along the way, you discover that you enjoy any particular component of the business (To the exclusion of most of the rest) . . . ie . . . You wake up one morning with the realization that you LOVE working with Buyer and HATE all the rest . . . Then seeking membership on a team is a smart way to go. 

I could write all day long about the ins and outs of building teams. There are many rewards, and just as many pot-holes along the way. Whichever path you choose, my hope is that you make an INTENTIONAL choice - That is - Think it through fully - know when to quit - and pursue your path with relentless passion :-)

When people are acknowledging their own authentic selves and following their heart and SHOWING UP and BEING PRESENT and truthful with themselves and others and letting go of those things that drag them down . . .  internal peace happens . . .
