Hands down, my favorite community in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area is Kenwood Forest. With a variety of floorplans and facades, there are studio and one bedroom garden style condos, and two, three or four bedroom townhomes on two or three levels. Some of the town houses have brick facades, while others are siding painted in neutral greys, yellows and sage greens. Situated along Bradley Boulevard, Hillandale, Offutt, Chevy Chase Drive, Willett Parkway, Kenwood Forest Lane, and Fairfax, the homes are set back in quiet courtyards that underscore the serenity that is Kenwood Forest.
Kenwood Forest was not always townhouses. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Holladay Corporation transformed Bradley Boulevard Apartments into the nearly 400 townhomes in Kenwood Forest I and II. (The Bradley Boulevard Apartments was a 600+ apartment facility built after World War II, when Washington DC was filled with thousands of returning veterans and their happy families.)
Kenwood Forest remains prized for its proximity to the shops, restaurants, and movie theaters of downtown Bethesda, the Capital Crescent Trail, the Metro, Norwood Park, and the Bethesda pool.
