Putting Summer Away

One of the first blogs I did was about putting Summer away and getting ready for the colder weather.  I love Summer and one of the best things about living on Long Island is Summer.  We have miles and miles of beautiful beaches and the whole flavor of the Island changes in Summer.

Much as I am sad to see Summer go I am ready for the change.  Life is a little like that.  I loved when my kids were little but if they didn't grow up then I wouldn't have the most delicious grand children.  I miss my youth but I kind of like being a senior.  People are much nicer to me and the things about me that use to be weird are now seen as "amusing".

Times change and that's probably why the word bittersweet was invented.

While I'm at work today my sons and son in law and a few of the hooligans are at my house putting away Summer.  When I get home, I'll make a fire and have a glass of wine to salute Autumn and soon to be here, Winter.

I'm home now and my yard is empty except for the leaves and my garage is neat and as organized as it can be.  Ready for that first snow day.

I have to get to the store and buy a bottle of wine.  We do have the fire in the fireplace and well.... we have put away summer.  Of course I'm sure you'd just laugh at my idea of cold.  It only got to 61 today and well... that is winter.

Every season has its benefits but I have to admit, spring, summer and fall are my favorites, and I always feel a bit sad when it gets cold!  Wine is good for any season!
