How Does a Home Buyer Know If His Real Estate Agent Is Doing a Good Job?

By

Whether you use a Realtor or Real Estate Agent as a Buyer Broker, his or her first job is to help you find a home that is suitable and affordable.  This takes listening to your wants and needs, and asking you follow-up questions that prompt further explanatiion.  Whether or not the agent is actively listening to you should be clear when he/she has shown you some homes.  Do the homes you are being shown match up with what you explained you wanted?  Do their prices match up with what you want to spend?  Are they in the areas you explained that yo want to live?  If not, perhaps the Buyer Broker did not understand your needs, and another session of communication may be necessary.  Does your return your phone calls promptly?  Or does he/she take several days to get back to you.

Melania and Jim, very helpful.  Now buyers can better recognize whether their agent is doing the job they were hired for.
