We have the most wonderful Bog in Broadmead, a small community in Victoria, BC. The Trail winds around the Bog for a few km - See what the RBCS has to say about it:

Rithet's Bog Conservation Society (RBCS) is a registered non profit Society dedicated to the care and stewardship of the Saanich Park, known as Rithet's Bog Conservation Area which was donated to Saanich by the Guinness family of Britain in 1994 and was subsequently zoned as a nature sanctuary by the municipality. Since that time RBCS has worked closely with Saanich Parks as an advisory body on matters pertaining to the health of the Sphagnum community in this last remaining peat bog on the Saanich Peninsula. The human history of the area is a major part of the extensive educational material developed by RBCS.

RBCS is a Federated Club of the Federation of BC Naturalists.

Volunteer Work Bees at Rithet's Bog

When: First Sunday of the month, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, from October 2007 through June 2008

Dates: April 6, 2008, May 4, 2008 and June 1, 2008

Where: We meet at the FirTree Glen entrance to the Bog (off Emily Carr Drive) at 1:00 pm, and walk in to our work site.

Please Bring: Gloves, work clothes, (long sleeves and pant legs to protect your skin), sturdy footwear, waterproof gear on inclement days, and your favourite clippers or loppers

We Will Supply: Broom puller, shovel, loppers, tarps and dolly

Edibles Supplied: Cookies or muffins, water or juice
