Curb Appeal - Yes, Plant the Grass!

The Importance of Curb Appeal When Selling Your Home

Drive up to any home and what you see first leaves a lasting impression. Online, the photos to advertise usually start with the outside and work their way inside to show off the features. Photos of similar homes help to sell a property, but nothing sells better than the actual home itself. Builders looking for advice on choices of details when they are building will consult me about floor plans, tile choices and more. The question of what entices a buyer is something am frequently asked. I tell them curb appeal matters. So when a house is finished and without a lawn and a builder asks "will the lawn actually matter?" I say yes. Oh the green grass is so much better. It doesn't get more obvious than this. While the leaves are falling down on the grass the house looks like a home.

Knowing how to make the most of what you have when marketing a home for sale is why consulting with a real estate professional matters. Sometimes the obvious is forgotten. I work in the field every day and see what matters to buyers. Important features can sometimes be missed.

If you are selling a home that is any age, it is important to get it ready from the outside in. Take the time, spend a few dollars and make her look her best. Top dollar and faster sales are the end results. If you would like a consultation on your home, please contact me.  Listing your home is just part of selling it. Helping you get it ready for sale is part of what is involved to make it happen.  Curb appeal is so important. It says welcome to buyers, and that they have come "home".

I couldnt agree more. I was viewing some homes online and noticed ZERO landscaping done, not even grass, and moved on to the next one

David Shamansky I would imagine different parts of the country need different landscaping to look finished. Builders here have to grade the property, put down seed and hay before a closing anyway. I say unless it is the wrong time of the season, plant the lawn and let it get started. It looks so much better!

Laura Allen, Lake Tahoe - Truckee Real Estate for Sale www.TahoeLauraLuxuryHomes.com Curb appeal is huge. People definitely notice!

Andrea Bedard when I took the first set of photos and put them on the mls I cropped out the brown front lawn, but I was never happy with them. Now they look oh so much nicer!

Winston- thanks so much, glad you found it useful

Lynn- yes the new photos on the mls should be most helpful

Debbie Gartner it is a combination of a bunch of things when selling a home, every little bit helps and green grass in this area does make a huge difference.

Janis, such great advice, and curb appeal is so important.   This is the first photo they see, and could pass over a beautiful home with mediocre curb appeal.

While new construction doesn't always have the luxury of green grass for the photos, when we can get it in, it makes a big difference Joan Cox

Wayne Johnson it absolutely does!

Yes! The pictures really say it all. I can just imagine showing the first picture and hearing the buyers complain about the patch of dirt.
