Business this year on the Outer Banks has been brisk to say the least. Final tourist figures will not be in until December but seeing the traffic this summer I am fairly confident the numbers will be up from 2013. Below is a recent article from the Virginia Pilot Online about the fall shoulder season. Most business owners on the Outer Banks have to make a years worth of income during the main tourist season from June to September. The Outer Banks has done an amazing job of promoting a wide range of activites during the off seasons to attract visitors. Events include the Outer Banks Seafood Festival, Blugrass Festival, Parade of Homes, OBX Marathon, Taste of the Beach, and so much more. If you have never been to the Outer Banks in the spring or fall it's worth the trip.

Sam & Omie's Restaurant owner Carol Sykes took a rare moment to sit at one of the booths and recount how busy the fall has been.
A man made reservations earlier in the week for a party of 17, unusual for this time of the season.
"We thought he was kidding," she said. "Business has been really good."
The day's special of vegetable beef soup was selling well as temperatures cooled before the weekend.
Sam & Omie's brisk activity reflects what's happening in much of Dare County. The weekend weather has been spectacular. No autumn hurricanes came close. Fishing is great. The economy is moving again, and the shoulder season activities are well attended. Full Article Here
