Losing the Polls Might Be Good for Business!

For the last several weeks, I have felt that the negative campaigns by both parties have damaged our business atmosphere. No matter who you vote for, there is someone telling you the other guy is a dishonest hack. Half the people don't have the time or inclination to do the homework to find out who is telling the truth, so they don't know if they are voting for a hack or a liar.

I had a nice conversation with a local attorney yesterday who is of the Democrat persuasion, shall we say. While I am not a professed Republican or Tea Bagger or Libertarian or whatever, I do not think like the current Democrat platform. However, my beliefs tend to be conservative on government and liberal on social issues, so I feel like I can agree with a lot of folks on any given issue. The conversation centered around our beliefs that both parties have lost track of what used to work.

As Realtors® we should be adept at negotiating if we represent our clients well. With that said, the art of negotiation is arriving at your goal, not necessarily winning every point. It is a planned retreat in most cases, rather than an attack. In the end, we may not get everything we wanted, but we are happy with the results, and if the other party knows what he is doing, he should feel the same.

What used to work in government at any level is reasonable conversation. We now have a siege mentality in Washington, and many state capitols as well. That, my friends, is not good for business.

So true about the negativity, Ron. I'm just glad the negative ads are gone and hopefully the positive attitude will return all around.

Good morning Ron.  Yes I am with you I think negative political ads, calls and marketing does take it's toll on the public mentally.  Now that the dust is settling I think real estate will be okay.
