Clarendon has a vivid nightlife. For example, there are many bars and restaurants that serve this walkable area with a metro stop. Clarendon is the location of establishments like Mad Rose, Clarendon Ball Room, Iota, Cava Mezza, Whitlow’s, etc.
The Clarendon Metro Station is located in Arlington, Virginia between the Rosslyn and Ballston Metro Stations and runs both the Orange and Blue Metro lines. The Clarendon Metro Station totals 212 acres of land and includes a mixed-bag of single and multi-family homes, apartments, condos, office buildings, and commercial and retail businesses. There are multiple established residential neighborhoods located near the Clarendon Metro Station that combine to create an urban village, a notion that was the central concept in the design and development of the Clarendon neighborhood.
One of the major focal points near the Clarendon Metro is the Olmstead Building and standing at 213,000 square feet, the Olmstead Building is the largest office space in Clarendon. More recently completed in 2003, the Hartford Office Building is another front runner contending for the largest office space and encompasses almost 207,000 square feet. In December of 2004, there were over 64,545 square feet of office space, 25,615 square feet of retail space, and 887 residential units under construction. Presently, there are many other condominiums being built near the Clarendon Metro Station which include the Phoenix Condominiums and the Views of Clarendon condos.
Finally, the area surrounding the Clarendon Metro Station hosts several exciting, local events each year including Arlington’s Neighborhood Day Parade and the Mardi Gras Parade. The largest and most notable event of the year isClarendon Day, usually held on a Saturday in mid-October, and features live music, local restaurant and eatery booths, clothing, jewelry, antiques, games and rides for children, and an ice cream eating contest.
Additionally, a farmer’s market is held at Clarendon’s Central Park on Wednesday afternoons from Memorial Daythrough Labor Day and features organic produce and baked goods.
