When to Bury St. Joseph's Statues in Real Estate

There is always a right time if you are the prayerful kind and your belief system says let's bury a St. Joseph's statue in this wickford ri real estateRI real estate yard.  I have to say every time my clients have done this within the week we get a good offer on a house!  Now they say that there is no doubt that this real estate agent knows how to play good poker with a house offer too but St. Joe adds that sweet benefit in the divine here.

So on a house that just went into agreement today, that St. Joseph's statue was buried last week (unbeknownst to me)  and all the family was asked to pray thoughtfully on it.  While they did that my tooting the horn on this house continued...verbal offers came in with contingencies, written offers came in and an open house was planned to increase the drama in the buy arena.

One can not tell what really is the tipping point ever in a bona fide offer on a home but it does take more than the celestial heavens to wield their hand sometimes.  I for one will never downplay that ability but I am certainly glad that working hard for my home sellers helps them on their way to great offers.  See the videos, blogging, photography, web site all contribute to that neat little St. Joseph's statue in the yard.

I say bury it whenever you have the urge!

I am glad Debbie Gartner caught my misspelling of statue vs. statute!  I can't believe I did that...lol

Ginny, I buried a statue of St. Joseph for a house I wanted to sell a long time ago. My two dogs dug up good old St. Joe and bit its head off...took me over a year to sell it after that!

Ginny I know a few Realtors/Agents who are convinced it works.  Whether it does or not I don't know, but I know the confidence these Realtor/Agents express in this practice probably has a lot to do with its success.

Hi Ginny,

I have purchased St. Joseph several times. Ironically, I have found those who profess to have faith don't bury St. Joseph and their home sits on the market for a long, long time.

Those who never had faith and believe do get under contract within hours.

Perhaps it does have a lot to do with faith. I believe it is true!

Hello Ginny,  I always have one in my car if a client ask me about it.  Funny, how they  come up missing after the house sells.

Ginny - Over the years I have had several listings where St. Joseph has been buried in the yard.  And, I have also been amazed at how easily those homes have sold, and closed.  It's been absolutely uncanny.  I remember one home in particular.  It was on a busy street, needed some work, and wasn't really priced to sell quickly.  Yet, it sold within a few days.  It closed easily with all parties being in total cooperation!  The hard part was trying to dig St. Joe up again at the end of the transaction.  He had been buried in the back gardens by the seller, who couldn't exactly remember where the statue was located.

Good morning Jenny. I have heard of that before. Some people really swear that bearing a St. Joseph's statue really works.

All I can say that 2 this weekend went into contract where we were so far apart I just did not believe it would come together but we did...with a little help from faith and St. Joe!

Hi Ginny: During my first two years in the business, I have St. Joseph statues ready for my sellers. Some did believe and got surprising results. However, there was a time when one of my sellers told me that she did not think  she buried the statue right because the property did not sell quickly. It was a lakefront home and her price was high given the condition. When we reduced the price, it got sold. Nevertheless, St. Joseph also got the credit. ;)

Good morning Ginny,

Over the years I've had sellers who swear by burying a Saint Joseph..I have to admit the homes got good offers very soon after Jo was buried! The power of Joe:).

I was really tempted to bury one when we were ready to sell our house. A few days later we had a contract and it wasn't necessary. I have heard many people swear that they work.

Hard work by the listing agent and sending out positive vibes is always a win-win formula, no matter what time of year or if you bury the statue or not. Great job!
