There's more than One Way to get a job done

Reblogger Bob Crane

Every week I pick 10 posts that I think that could use a second look, a little more exposure, or that are so good that I want all my friends to have a chance to experience it.

This week is no exception and it has been a challenge to narrow the list down to 10, I hope that you enjoy these along with a few more that you may find on the author's blog site.

Take a few minutes to click on the title of this post, this will take you to the original blog post where the author would be excited to hear your thoughts on their post.

I'll be the first to admit I like doing things my way. I have a certain way of folding laundry. I have a particular way I like my real estate documents turned in by my agents. I have a tried and true filing system that allows me to know exactly where everything is so I can find it if I need it. If anyone happens to mess up my routine or challenge the way I do things I can get a little uneasy.

But changing the way we do things can be an overwhelming positive. I've learned a lot over the years by watching how others handle their business. I've grown as a small business owner, broker, mother, and wife by being challenged to change the way I look at life and how I conduct my daily routine that we can all get stuck in.

This principle of change and acceptance of others differences also holds extremely true for how we deal with others as we all work to get a deal closed for our clients. I've dealt with hundreds of agents, inspectors, appraisers, contractors, brokers, etc. throughout my 16 year real estate career. They all have one thing in common. They all do things differently. They each have their own way of communication; some people like to call, some like to text, others prefer email. They each have their own daily routines; some people respond to requests first thing in the mornings, some respond during their afternoon lunch breaks, and others wait until the evening to get back to you over an issue.

These subtle differences can be frustrating at times when all we want to do is tell that other business professional what the right way to do things is, or better worded, what OUR way of doing things is. There is usually more than one way to get a task done. We all have our own preferred methods but that doesn't mean someone else's way won't work just as well. It might not be how we would choose to do it of course, but if you stopped and examined how others handle their business, sometimes, occasionally, we might actually find that someone else's way worked out better than we thought it would.
