Lend a helping hand if you can.  This Sunday our church had the senior youth group meet for some pizza before heading out for an afternoon of fun.  The senior youth group, which is made up of highschool kids, decided to do a rake and run.Fall Leaves

Whats a rank and run you might ask?  The group leaders heard of 3 families who were not able to rake their leaves.  The three families happened to be elderly families.  The kids organized the supplies and the leaders organized the families that were getting help.

The fun part of this is that the families did not know the kids were going to show up and take care of their yard work.  The drawback is not everyone is OK with that happening.  Two of the three yards were so very very grateful to have them show up and take care of all the yard work, while the third homeowner did not understand why anyone would do this for free and out of the kindness of their heart. She was scared so they had to leave.  Some adults are going to go over and take care of her yard for her instead.

People need help year round but the fall and winter months bring on different challenges.  Leaves can result in slippery sidewalks and clogged drains for example.  They need to be bagged up and removed. Next comes winter with snow and ice.  The kids will help take care of peoples driveways too during the winter months.

Keep your eyes open for people in your area that could use a helping hand.  Some are too proud to ever ask but that doesn't mean they don't need the help or wouldn't appreciate some help..

Have Great Day!
