Veterans Day - Why Not Say Thank You?

Many Celebrations - Never Enough Ways to Say Thank YOU!

There are many different ways to honor Veterans. Today Iocal schools and  government buildings were all closed in honor of those Vets in our area. NYC always has a huge parade and today in the Town of Newburgh there was a brief but wonderful celebration. Take the time to listen to this rendition of our National Anthem. It always make me take pause and think about what we have in this country.

The date of November 11th goes back in history to the armistice signed ending WWI. It took effect 11am on the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918. At that time the holiday became Armistice Day, a day of remembrance. Once it became clear after WWII and the Korean War that World War One was truly not the "war to end all wars" Congress changed the name from Armistice Day to Veterans Day and now our National holiday in the United States to honor ALL those that serve.

Thank You to all that have served our country, today and everyday of the year.

What a lovely tribute Janis. I so appreciate the beauty of this country-both physically and in its principles.   I think about Veteran's Day all the time as my dad is a WWII hero!

Absolutely true Joanna Cohlan This country is quite beautiful. My uncle was a WWII hero and received a Purple Heart many many years ago. Thanks for watching the video. It does make one take pause! We are so lucky to live here in the USA>

Janis- there are never enough ways to say "Thank you."  I don't think I ever said that to my dad, who was in the Army Air Corps and served as a photographer.  After seeing Saving Private Ryan, I sobbed inside the theatre at the end. Yes never enough ways.
