Katy Family YMCA Holds Annual Turkey Dash 2014
The Katy TX YMCA in partnership with the Fellowship at Cinco Ranch will host its Twelfth annual Turkey Dash on its traditional Thanksgiving day morning being November 27, 2014. The main event sponsor is Reliant and NRG Company. Two years ago a 10K event was added and received significant positive feedback. This year there will be a 5K and 10K course as separating the events improves participants experience. In addition, there is also a family event named kids fun run and the family oriented 1 mile walk or run or both.
The proceeds from this Turkey dash as part of the YMCA’s continuing commitment to the local community will be used to fund various program scholarships and subsidies for Katy area families in need.
Last year 5,844 people participated in this Turkey Dash and it raised more than $180,000. Since year 2008, this event has experienced a growth rate of 30 % each year and that trend is expected to continue this year.
Packet pickups can be made before the race at the Katy YMCA located at 22807 Westheimer parkway Katy TX 77494 or phone 281-392-5055 starting on November 22, 2014 and running to November 27, 2014. A silent auction has been added this year and will be conducted on packet pickup days. Another new item this tear is a costume contest.

The cost is Family Fun Walk/Run $20 per person until November 21 and then is $23 per person; Kids 1 Mile Run $23 per person until November 21 and then is $$26 per person; 5K run $32 per person till November 21 and then $35 per person; 10K Run $37 per person until November 21 and then $40 per person. The first 1,000 registrants for the 10K will receive a tech shirt.

There will be games, fun things to do and food available. The first event is the 1 Mile Kids Fun Run which starts at 7:10 AM. Other races follow. Lineup is 20 minutes in advance of the race start.
Parking is available at the Villagio Garage, The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch, West YMCA lot, Williams Elementary, and with overflow plus shuttle bus service running from 6:45 AM till 10:50AM at the Target Lot on Westheimer Parkway. This event draws a large number of participants plus spectators and I advise getting up early and heading out just to find a parking spot!
