Do Agents Like Working With Lawyers in Sacramento?

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

Perhaps part of the reason this Sacramento real estate agent tends to gravitate toward working with lawyers as clients is because the public often hates them just as much as they hate us. We're in the same club, occupying the same rung on the ol' totem pole, sipping the same bourbon Manhattan over at Ella. I suspect many real estate agents, however, dislike working with lawyers because they're always worried that a lawyer will sue them for something, for some kind of innocent mess up.

Not every lawyer is focused on going to court. Not every lawyer is "sue happy" either. There are many aspects about working with lawyers that I love. I have a disproportionately high number of clients who are lawyers. Perhaps it's because there are so many lawyers in Sacramento? You can read more about this in my personal blog today about Working with Lawyers as Clients in Real Estate.

Yet one more thing we have in common...liking to work with lawyers.  I want to ask one of my attorney pals if a real estate agent would ever be able to put a mechanic's lien on a property for unpaid commission.  It was a thought that came to me the other day out of pure legal curiosity.

I've been fortunate enough to work with several attorney over the years, and have always (for the most part) enjoyed the experience.  I like your thoughts on what real estate professionals and lawyers have in common.

Elizabeth I have worked with quite a few attorneys either representing them as buyers or sellers...most of them are charming and they do not need to be hand held, they are familiar with contracts and they have a keen ability to cut through the fluff..so I never had a bad "attorney" even when they were not represented by me...Endre

Being in my former profession I can tell you they had rather work things out than go to court.  Communication is the key.  If they know why the chances are that something can be worked out.  Most are as you indicated not "sue happy"

For me Elizabeth, it's much like anyone else.  There are lawyers that have been a pleasure to work with and then there were some that weren't.

Hi Elizabeth.  Lawyers are like agents.  There are the good, the bad and the ugly.

Purely hypothetical, of course, but I would imagine an agent could not place a mechanic's lien against the property but would instead file a Lis Pendens. However, I am not a lawyer, heh, heh.
