Holidays at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden: begins the holiday season with lots of displays, the famous Orchid Tree, cookies & cocoa with Santa, a wreath building class, holiday teas, fairy house workshop. Meet the Breeds Event sponsored by the Piedmont Kennel Club on November 22nd (from noon till 4:00pm). If you've been thinking about adding a dog to your family, this is a great venue at which to learn what kind of dog best suits your home, family, and lifestyle. There will also be live demonstrations on basic training for dogs. Admission is free, but the Kennel Club requests that you bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Charlotte Magical Toy Drive which is affiliated with Charlotte's Salvation Army. Charlotte International Auto Show at the Charlotte Convention Center begins November 20th and runs through November 23. Thursday and Friday hours: Noon till 9:00pm. Saturday hours: 10:00am till 10:00pm. Sunday hours: 10:00am till 6:00pm. You can buy discount tickets and coupons at www.CharlotteAutoShow.com (free for children under 12). The show offers almost six football fields of display area with hundreds of vehicles on display from over three dozen manufacturers. You'll see classic cars to the latest 2015 model year cars. General Motors is offering a Ride & Drive on Saturday and Sunday, allowing you to get behind the wheel of their cars and experience them first-hand. Show organizers are asking attendees to bring a new bike helmet as a donation to the "Hey Kids, It's Santa" organization which donates hundreds of bikes each year to deserving children in the Charlotte metro area. If you donate a helmet, you get one free admission to the show.
- Tree Lighting: at Ballantyne Village on November 21st at 6:00pm to kick off the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. Free holiday treats and hot cider or cocoa will be served. And from Friday, November 21st till December 13th you can select your Salvation Army Holiday Angel at Ballantyne Village and make sure that less fortunate children receive Christmas gifts.
