Westfield is a town in Union County, New Jersey. Located approximately 25 miles southwest of New York City, Westfield was originally formed as a township in 1794 and was incorporated in 1798, as a one of New Jersey's initial group of 104 townships.
Westfield has a small town environment that offers many diverse cultural, recreational, educational, and social activities. A huge highlight of the town is Downtown Westfield, with over 200 retail establishments and 400 commercial enterprises.
Public school students in Kindergarten through 12th grade attend the Westfield Public Schools. For high school, public school students are also eligible to apply to attend the Union County Vocational Technical Schools, which include Union County Magnet High School, Union County Academy for Information Technology, Union County Academy for Allied Health Sciences, Union County Vocational Technical High School and Union County Academy for Performing Arts.
Westfield is a popular choice for commuters. Newark Liberty International Airport is approximately 20 minutes away. New Jersey Transit offers both train and bus service to New York City. Highways such as Route 22 and Garden State Parkway are minutes away.
Westfield consists of two areas the North Side and the South Side.
