How can you make your property more appealing in the rainy or snowy weather? Think Cozy… CLEAN (that goes without saying) and cozy!!!! I always think what would I really want to be doing on a chilly miserable day…(If I was a home buyer, looking at houses would probably not be it, but if I had limited time or appointments set  then I’d have too).  So pause for a minute and picture this scenario.

It’s snowy (rainy) and chilly and open the front door and it smells wonderful.  Perhaps smells of cinnamon and spice or hot coco come to mind. Soft music is playing, there’s a fire in the fireplace or candles that are burning (don’t worry about leaving candles burning use the fake flame candles). There’s a soft throw blanket on a chair or couch a good classical book opened to a page and the lights are on low. (Can you picture it does it invite you in?)

I thought some pictures might help drive the image home along with 10 number one cozy must haves

  1. Candles,
  2.  Pillows
  3. Throw blankets
  4. Accent lighting
  5. Low lighting
  6. Different textures
  7. Soft warm colors
  8. De-clutter
  9. TV on with old black and white movie (awesome idea)
  10. Soft music

Giselle,

Our showings have really dropped off this week with the deep freeze and some snow.  It is important to have your driveway and sidewalk shoveled if there is snow, otherwise some people may pass because they they may NOT want to wade through snow and ruin shoes or end up with their pants wet past their ankles.

A home is more welcoming if buyers have a place to put their wet shoes if it has been raining or there is snow.  Some very considerate buyers may be worried about tracking around the home if there is not a rug inside or shoe tray to place their shoes or boots.

I enjoyed your tips for inside,  Giselle!

Hi Bruce yes shoveling the walk and having a nice dry area to remove foot wear is key in areas that have snow. Our area most people keep their shoes on so a nice fuzzy throw rug to wipe your shoes is ideal and a place to set your umbrella and jacket.
